Make Your Own Havaianas 2016 turns Japanese

#MYOH2016 Make Your Own Havaianas 2016

Every Make Your Own Havaianas event they highlight a destination or theme that celebrates its heritage or encapsulates the ‘always summer’ state of mind.  This 11th year, Havaianas is paying homage to its origin with a Shibori-inspired Make Your Own Havaianas.

All Flip Flops Entrance at SM City Bacolod

Established in Brazil in 1962, Havainanas has since conquered the world. The very first flip-flop was inspired by the Zori which is a type of Japanese sandal made of fabric straps and rice straw roles. Today, Havaianas flip-flops still show marks of these rice patterns.

This year’s 2016 limited edition commemorative sole inspired by Shibori, a Japanese fabric-dyeing technique. They have a great selection of kawaii pins embellishments such as the The Sakura, Ramen, The Japanese Fan, The Empress, The Zori, Ninja and statement pins, among others celebrate the love for travel and the land of the rising sun’s unique lifestyle and influence on today’s pop culture.

The wheel of flip-flop has helped hundreds of Havaianaticos decide what their pair will look like. Every year, I twist and turn this wheel to see which combination would look great.
