Negros Power enters its third year with a stronger commitment to Central Negros!

Negros Electric and Power Corp., also known as Negros Power, is celebrating its second year in Central Negros. The company is renewing its commitment to better electricity services and stronger support for the communities it serves.

Since taking over from the Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Negros Power has upgraded its distribution system, improved reliability, and invested in projects to meet growing electricity needs.

As Negros Power begins its third year, this milestone shows both the progress made so far and the challenges that remain.

Negros Power Marks 2nd Year with Stronger Commitment to Negros

Negros Power Ahead of Five-Year Development Plan

Primelectric Holdings Inc. President and CEO Roel Z. Castro said Negros Power has already completed nearly half of its five-year development plan in just two years.

This progress puts the company ahead of its original goals and shows its ongoing investment in Central Negros’ electricity system.

The development plan aims to strengthen infrastructure, improve service reliability, and get the power network ready for future needs.

These improvements mean more reliable electricity for homes, businesses, schools, hospitals, and other places that need it.

Significant Improvement in Power Reliability

One of the main achievements in the second year is better electricity reliability.

Castro said the average number of outages has dropped by about 70 percent, and outage length has dropped by around 75 percent.

These changes can make a real difference in people’s daily lives. Businesses especially rely on steady electricity for their work, equipment, refrigeration, communication, and other important tasks.

Even with this progress, Negros Power is still working to make its distribution system even more reliable.

Generation Supply Remains a Challenge

While Negros Power continues to improve its network, Castro explained that some recent power interruptions are due to insufficient supply in the grid, not issues with the company’s own system.

The region has had several yellow and red alerts, which mean there is not enough power supply. In these cases, electricity demand may be reduced for a short time to keep the grid stable.

When major power plants are unavailable, it adds to these supply problems.

Castro said solving the supply problem will need everyone to work together. He urged regional leaders and others to bring the issue to the Regional Development Council and the national government.

Commitment Beyond Electricity Distribution

Negros Power also aims to help Central Negros in ways beyond providing electricity.

Castro pointed out the company’s work in the environment and heritage, such as planting mangroves, adopting forests, and lighting up the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol.

These projects show the company’s goal to make a lasting difference in the communities it serves.

Planting mangroves and adopting forests help protect the environment. Heritage projects highlight important landmarks and help people appreciate the history and identity of Negros.

For Negros Power, these efforts are about building a legacy that goes beyond its main business.

Looking Toward the Third Year

As Negros Power starts its third year, the company sees both new opportunities and challenges ahead.

The big drop in outages shows progress in strengthening electricity distribution. But supply concerns show that private companies, the government, and others in the power industry still need to work together.

Reliable electricity is important for homes and communities, and it also matters for businesses, investors, and industries that help Central Negros grow.

Negros Power’s second year is more than just an anniversary. It shows the company’s ongoing work to improve power distribution and build stronger ties with the communities it serves.

Looking ahead, Negros Power says it will stay committed to Central Negros for the long term.

Now, the company aims to build on its progress, keep investing in the power system, support environmental and heritage projects, and work with others to provide more reliable and sustainable electricity for the people of Negros.
