Negros Power Celebrates First Anniversary with Lifesaving Surgical Mission
When a company says it puts people first, it’s easy to think of it as a slogan. But for Negros Electric and Power Corporation, better known as Negros Power, that promise is more than just words. To mark its first anniversary, the company went beyond lighting homes and powering businesses. From August 12 to 15, 2025, Negros Power partnered with the World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP) to hold a four-day surgical mission at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH).
This initiative was part of their flagship campaign Ikaw ang Una, which translates to You First. True to its name, the campaign highlights how the company is committed to putting the welfare of the community above everything else.

A Mission that Changes Lives
This was not the first time Negros Power extended its care through medical missions. Their initial surgical outreach was at Valladolid District Hospital, and after its success, the company pushed forward with another, bigger effort.
During the recent mission, 17 patients received free life-changing surgeries. Most of them were children, some just a day old, who needed specialized operations that their families could not afford. These procedures included herniotomy, rectal biopsy, PSARP (Posterior Sagittal Anorectoplasty), pull-through surgeries, and colostomy closures. For these young patients, the surgeries opened the door to a healthier and brighter future.

The Heart Behind the Work
The mission was made possible thanks to the combined effort of 35 dedicated volunteers and medical staff. The team was composed of an advance crew, doctors and nurses from Manila, volunteers from ORNAP Dumaguete, and, of course, the hardworking professionals of CLMMRH. Together, they worked tirelessly to provide patients with safe, comprehensive, and compassionate care.
According to Ms. Maricel Pe, Assistant Vice President for Customer Care and Marketing, the project is a reflection of the company’s values. She shared, “Through our partnership with the World Surgical Foundation Philippines, we are not just providing electricity. We are empowering lives, one surgery at a time. As we celebrate our first anniversary, we remain true to our promise: Ikaw ang una—our people will always come first.”
Families Grateful for a New Chance at Life
For the families of the beneficiaries, the mission was nothing short of a miracle. Many expressed their deep gratitude for the opportunity to receive high-quality medical services that would have otherwise been financially out of reach. These free operations not only gave children a fighting chance at better health but also lifted a heavy burden off their parents’ shoulders.
One can only imagine the relief of a mother whose newborn underwent a critical procedure, or the joy of parents finally seeing their child recover from a condition that has weighed heavily on the family for years. These are moments that truly define what community service is all about.
Looking Ahead: A Tradition of Care
Negros Power is not stopping here. With the support of WSFP, CLMMRH, and local volunteers, the company is determined to continue this initiative in the years ahead. Just as they are committed to providing reliable energy to every home in Negros Occidental, they also want to ensure that families in need will always have access to lifesaving healthcare services.
This effort shows that true corporate responsibility is not measured by profits but by the positive impact made on the lives of people. Negros Power has set a strong example of how energy companies can give back to the communities they serve—not just through electricity but through compassion and genuine care.

More Than Power: A Promise to the People
As Negros Power celebrates its first anniversary, the company proves that its role goes far beyond supplying energy. With every initiative under Ikaw ang Una, it reaffirms its promise to put people first, whether through reliable electricity or life-changing community programs.
By standing at the intersection of energy and healthcare, Negros Power shows us that actual progress comes from empowering lives in every possible way. And for the people of Negros Occidental, that is a future worth celebrating.
