Negros Power Clears the Air on Bill Deposit Refunds for Consumers

When it comes to your electricity bills, some charges make you scratch your head and wonder why they even exist. One of those is the bill deposit. Recently, Negros Electric and Power Corporation, better known as Negros Power, addressed the topic to help consumers understand what it is, why it matters, and how you can get a refund if you are eligible.

What Exactly Is a Bill Deposit and Why Do You Need It?

According to Maricel Pe, the Assistant Vice President for Customer Care at Negros Power, a bill deposit is not some extra charge that utilities just decided to add. It is a mandatory and standard requirement for all Distribution Utilities in the country, as directed by the Energy Regulatory Commission.

Think of it as a security cushion. The bill deposit is there to make sure that your electricity provider can cover future electricity bills in case of nonpayment. This helps ensure that you continue to enjoy uninterrupted service. In short, it is a safety net for both the consumer and the company.

For New Negros Power Consumers

If you are a new customer who applied for a connection with Negros Power, you have already paid your bill deposit during the application and energization process. There is nothing else you need to do regarding this requirement.

What About Former CENECO Consumers?

This is where things get interesting. Negros Power took over from the Central Negros Electric Cooperative through a Joint Venture Agreement. Many former CENECO consumers already had an existing bill deposit with the cooperative before the transition.

Here is the good news. If you are one of those consumers, you have the option to apply for a refund of your bill deposit with CENECO. Negros Power is ready to help you with the process, so you do not have to go through it alone.

How the Refund Process Works

The refund option is exclusive to former CENECO consumers with an existing bill deposit recorded under the cooperative. However, not everyone automatically qualifies for a refund. CENECO will evaluate each account to determine eligibility.

If you think you might qualify, the first step is to visit a Negros Power office. The staff will guide you through the entire process. They will assist in filling out the necessary CENECO application form for the bill deposit refund and coordinate with CENECO on your behalf.

Once CENECO approves your refund, the amount will be transferred directly to your current Negros Power account. This ensures a seamless transaction without unnecessary delays.

Why Negros Power Is Involved

This arrangement is part of the Joint Venture Agreement between Negros Power and CENECO. Under this agreement, Negros Power has the authority to follow up on consumer concerns with CENECO. This includes bill deposit refunds as well as other matters related to the transition.

The goal is to make the changeover from CENECO to Negros Power as smooth as possible for everyone. By handling the coordination, Negros Power spares consumers the stress of navigating the process on their own.

Why You Should Take Action

If you are a former CENECO customer and you know you had a bill deposit with them, it is worth checking if you are eligible for a refund. This is your money, and claiming it ensures it will be credited to your account instead of sitting unclaimed.

Negros Power has made it clear that they are ready to assist and guide consumers every step of the way. All you have to do is take the first step by visiting their office and inquiring about your eligibility. You can rest assured that you are not alone in this process.

Making the Most of Your Bill Deposit

The transition from CENECO to Negros Power might still be new for many consumers. However, Negros Power’s effort to clarify policies like the bill deposit refund demonstrates a strong commitment to transparency. Whether you are a new consumer or a long-time resident making the switch, understanding these policies can save you money and help you manage your electricity account better.

So, if you have ever wondered about that bill deposit charge on your account, now you know the story behind it. And if you are one of the lucky former CENECO customers with a deposit on record, now is the perfect time to start the refund process and put that amount to good use.
