To Utah residents, Draper is a well-known city. It’s a beautiful place that’s home to gorgeous mountains and a lovely community of people.
Only 18 miles south of Salt Lake City, it happens to be very close to Salt Lake International Airport. With its proximity to SLC and the airport, it’s a great place to live and visit.
Here are five fun things to do in Draper while you’re there:
1. Hang Gliding and Paragliding
Draper’s Point of the Mountain has perfect wind conditions, making it a go-to spot for hang gliding and paragliding.
In fact, people have flocked to this location to enjoy these fun activities since the 1920s!
Flying over Utah is a truly unforgettable experience. If you’re in the area, you should do yourself a favor and check it out.
There are many local businesses that offer lessons to teach you how to fly with confidence. A professional instructor can show you how to control and maneuver the glider. You’ll be an expert in no time!
2. Living Planet Aquarium
Want to see more than 1,250 unique animals? Head to the Living Planet Aquarium!
At this aquarium, there are three main exhibits. The exhibits’ names are Ocean Explorer, Discover Utah, and Journey to South America.
Ocean Explorer allows you to walk through an underwater tunnel where you’re surrounded by creatures like sharks and sea turtles. Watching them swim above you is exciting and scary at the same time.
If you want to view animals in a tropical rainforest setting, check out Journey to South America. There, you’ll see exotic fish, reptiles, and free-flying birds. And don’t forget to view their beautiful 17-foot waterfall!

3. Potato Hill Trail

You can find Potato Hill on Traverse Mountain Road. It’s halfway between the Traverse Mountain Summit and Highland Drive.
This hike can be short or long, depending on your preference. It ranges from 2-6 miles, allowing you to choose your own adventure.
There are various trails to explore, so grab a map from the visitor center before venturing up the mountain.
Just a few miles up, you’ll be rewarded with beautiful views of the valley below. If you’re local to the area, you’ll want to come back and explore the trail in its entirety!
4. Draper City Park
Draper City Park is no ordinary park. This one is home to some of Utah’s most remarkable celebrations, music events, and festivals.
During the holiday season, the “Tree of Life” is strung with over 1,000 strands of light. It’s a stunning sight to see!
For nature enthusiasts, the park offers plenty of flora and fauna. Make sure to check out the gorgeous trees and take a stroll down one of the park’s many walking paths. If you’re into hiking or biking, there are trails for those activities too.
