Negros Power Steps Up to Keep BACIWA Water Flowing
When the power went out in Alijis Substation, not only did the lights go dark, but thousands of people’s BACIWA water supply also became disrupted.
Providing Power to BACIWA Pumping Stations
Negros Power just stepped up in a big way by providing three generator sets to the Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA) pumping stations. These aren’t just any pumping stations, either. They’re connected to the Alijis Feeder 3, which, up until now, didn’t have the necessary power backup to keep water flowing during those pesky brownouts.
So, what does this mean for you? It means those irritating water interruptions during power outages should be a thing of the past. Thanks to these new generator sets, the water supply should stay consistent even when the power grid decides to take a break.
New Power Gear: 10MVA Mobile substation & 18MVA Power Transformer
As of August 24, Negros Power has also been hard at work installing some serious hardware at the Alijis Substation. We’re talking about a 10 MegaVolt Amperes (MVA) Mobile substation and an 18MVA power transformer. These aren’t just fancy terms—these are the heavy hitters that will ensure your lights stay on and your appliances keep running.
They’re doing all the necessary prep work, like electrical testing and hooking everything up to the grid, to ensure the new equipment is ready to roll. The goal? To get everything up and running by Monday evening so that all the consumers relying on the Alijis substation, about 47,000 Negros Power consumers, won’t have to deal with any more of those dreaded rotational brownouts.
A Message from Negros Power
Mr. Roel Castro, President of Negros Power also has a message for everyone: “We are doing something out of the ordinary, and our priority is to restore the power to all the consumers. I know the consumers will not be satisfied with this, but please give us the benefit of the doubt.”
In other words, they’re pulling out all the stops to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. So, hang in there! It looks like brighter days—literally—are just around the corner.
Negros Power understands the importance of reliable electricity, especially in a city like Bacolod. The Alijis substation is just one of several scheduled for rehabilitation under the company’s 5-year plan.
While the recent power outage was unexpected, Negros Power is committed to restoring service as quickly as possible. They are asking for the public’s understanding and cooperation as they work to improve the power grid in the region. Your patience and support are invaluable in this process.
