Negros Power and BFP Lead Coastal Clean-Up Effort in Bacolod City
Keeping our environment clean and safe is a shared responsibility, and Negros Power is leading by example. On March 12, 2025, Negros Power joins BFP in coastal cleanup, teaming up with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) for a large-scale effort at Purok Punta Balhas, Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City.
This initiative not only removed waste but also raised awareness about the impact of pollution on fire hazards and the environment, reinforcing their dedication to sustainability and community safety.

A United Effort for a Cleaner Coastline
The event brought together nearly 300 volunteers from different organizations working toward a common goal—keeping Bacolod’s coastal areas free from waste and potential fire hazards. With the theme “Sa pag-iwas sa sunog, hindi ka nag-iisa” (In preventing fires, you are not alone), the initiative highlighted how a cleaner environment plays a crucial role in fire prevention.

Negros Power has always been an advocate for sustainability, and this was not their first collaboration with the BFP. Before this, they participated in the Red Zone Awareness Program in Barangay Banago and spearheaded a tree-planting activity in Barangay Felisa. Their continuous involvement in these programs shows their strong commitment to environmental protection.
Why a Coastal Clean-Up Matters
Bacolod’s coastal areas are home to rich marine life, but pollution has become a growing problem. Plastic waste, discarded fishing nets, and other debris harm marine species and pose a risk to human communities. During the clean-up, volunteers collected trash bags, including plastic bottles, styrofoam, and other non-biodegradable waste that had been carelessly discarded.

City Fire Marshal FSupt. Jenny Mae C. Masip expressed her appreciation for Negros Power’s unwavering support. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Negros Power for their proactive support. Keeping our coastlines clean is not just about aesthetics but protecting our community from potential fire hazards and environmental degradation.”
More Than Just Power Providers
Negros Power’s commitment goes beyond providing electricity. Their participation in initiatives like these proves that they care about the well-being of Bacolod’s residents and the natural environment.

“At Negros Power, we believe that corporate responsibility means actively taking part in community programs. This coastal clean-up is our way of giving back while reinforcing our commitment to sustainability,” said Engr. Leomel H. Tambanillo, Assistant Vice President for Business and Operations.
Looking Forward to More Eco-Friendly Projects
Negros Power continues to seek opportunities to support programs that make a real difference. Whether it’s tree planting, fire safety awareness, or environmental clean-ups, they remain dedicated to initiatives that benefit both the people and the planet.
This coastal clean-up was just one step toward a cleaner Bacolod, but with organizations like Negros Power and the BFP leading the way, the future looks a whole lot greener—and cleaner!
