Negros Power’s Christmas Surprise: Lower Electricity Rates!
Who doesn’t love a good holiday surprise? This Christmas season, Negros Power is giving its customers in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental something to smile about: lower electricity rates! Yes, you heard that right. The iconic Christmas lights twinkling in your home this year might cost you a little less.
Cheaper Electricity Bills Just in Time for the Holidays
Negros Power announced that residential consumers will enjoy a reduced rate of P11.18 per kilowatt hour this December. That’s a significant drop of 82 centavos per kWh compared to November’s rate. For an average household consuming around 200 kWh per month, this translates to savings of almost P164. That’s extra cash for your Christmas feast or those last-minute gifts you’ve been eyeing!
These adjusted rates will apply to the billing cycle from November 16 to December 15, and customers will start seeing the lowered charges on their bills beginning December 16, 2024. We encourage you to check your bills to ensure the rate reduction has been applied, and if you have any questions, our customer service team is here to assist you.
The Why Behind the Rate Reduction
So, what’s behind this delightful drop in rates? According to Negros Power’s President and CEO, Roel Castro, the decrease is thanks to lower blended generation rates from their power suppliers at the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). Simply put, the cost of sourcing electricity has gone down, and Negros Power is passing those savings directly to its customers.
Castro emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to affordability and reliability, saying, “We are pleased to pass on these savings to our customers during this special time of year.” He also reassured consumers that the company’s Distribution System and Metering charge remain steady at P1.18/kWh, covering operational costs without adding extra burden. This is our way of ensuring you can enjoy the holiday season without worrying about your electricity bill.
A Christmas Gift for Every Household
This rate reduction couldn’t have come at a better time. December is synonymous with higher electricity consumption—think Christmas lights, family gatherings, and all those appliances running overtime for holiday prep. Knowing that your bill will be a little lighter this month is like an early Christmas gift from Negros Power.
And let’s not forget the broader impact. These savings mean more money in consumers’ pockets, potentially boosting local businesses as people have more to spend on gifts, food, and festivities. It’s a win-win for everyone, and it’s a testament to the power of our community to support each other during the holiday season.
Looking Ahead
This rate reduction is excellent news, and it’s also a testament to Negros Power’s dedication to its customers. Castro reiterated our commitment, saying, “We will continue to work hard to ensure that our customers enjoy the benefits of a stable and efficient power system.” We look forward to serving you in the coming year and hope to bring more good news and continued efforts to keep electricity rates affordable.
Let’s hope 2025 brings more good news and continued efforts to keep electricity rates affordable. We are committed to working hard to ensure that our customers can always enjoy the benefits of a stable and efficient power system.

This Christmas, as you gather around with your loved ones, light up your home, and enjoy the festive spirit, take a moment to appreciate the little things—like a slightly lower electricity bill. Negros Power’s rate reduction is a thoughtful gesture that’s making the season even brighter.
