Negros Power on Red Alert as Typhoon Tino Approaches: Crews Fully Mobilized for Quick Response
As Typhoon Tino nears Western Visayas, Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) is taking precautions. The company has activated its complete contingency plan and placed operations on Red Alert, ensuring that every team and facility is prepared for possible power outages.

Full Force on the Ground
Negros Power has mobilized all its field and command center workers across Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, Murcia, Bago, Ma-ao, and Don Salvador Benedicto. Their teams are ready to work around the clock to maintain power and respond quickly to outages caused by strong winds or heavy rain.
The total deployment includes:
- 36 Response Teams
 - 9 Quick Response Teams
 - 14 Line Teams
 - 8 Support Crews for the SLP Team
 - 12 Support Crews for the Metering Team
 - 12 Line Inspectors
 - 6 Metering Inspectors

Each team is fully equipped with motorcycles, four-wheel-drive vehicles, and bucket trucks to manage line restoration effectively. Sleeping arrangements are also prepared in the offices for workers on duty for extended hours.
Prioritizing Safety and Power Restoration
Negros Power has established a clear Restoration Prioritization Matrix to guide its response once the typhoon strikes. The first focus will be on sub-transmission lines and substations, followed by feeder backbones, hospitals, and emergency services. Crews will only move to neighborhoods and individual households after these critical areas are restored.

Engr. Bernard Bailey Del Castillo, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technical Officer of Negros Power, stated that public safety and service reliability are their main priorities. “All our contingency resources are now activated. We have pre-positioned our teams, vehicles, and materials in key locations to ensure quick response and faster restoration once conditions allow,” he said.
24/7 Communication and Coordination
To keep consumers updated, Negros Power’s customer service hotlines are open 24/7. The company also has a dedicated social media team ready to respond to messages and outage reports online. Meanwhile, their Key Accounts and Community Relations teams are working closely with local government units and critical facilities to ensure a fast, organized response.

Commitment to Continuous Service
Negros Power assures residents that all systems are in place and crews are fully mobilized. With everyone on high alert, the company aims to deliver safe, fast, and reliable power restoration throughout Typhoon Tino.
As Engr. Del Castillo emphasized, “Our priority is the safety of our personnel and the public while ensuring that critical facilities like hospitals and emergency services remain energized.”
Negros Power’s proactive measures demonstrate a strong commitment to keeping communities connected and safe, no matter how severe the storm.
