Negros Power Strengthens Farmers’ Livelihood Through Roots of Hope

Negros Electric and Power Corp., or Negros Power, is marking another achievement by helping local farmers. To celebrate its second anniversary, the company launched the Roots of Hope: Farmers’ Livelihood Support Program in Purok 18, Barangay Alangilan, Bacolod City.

On August 25, 2026, the program provided agricultural resources to the Alangilan Granada Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Farmers Association, Inc. This effort highlights Negros Power’s commitment to supporting communities with more than just electricity by helping create sustainable livelihoods.

Having quality seeds, seedlings, and basic farming tools can make a big difference for farmers. Through Roots of Hope, Negros Power is helping farmers do better work and supporting sustainable farming and community growth.

Negros Power Strengthens Farmers Through Roots of Hope Program

Negros Power Supports Local Farmers

The Roots of Hope program provided the farmers’ association with a variety of vegetable seeds and seedlings for their farms. These included corn, balatong, okra, ampalaya, pipino, kalabasa, talong, tomato, bell pepper, and hot pepper.

The company also donated crates and a canopy to help farmers with their daily tasks.

These resources may seem simple, but they provide real help to farmers who depend on agriculture for their income. By giving materials that farmers can use immediately, the program helps them increase productivity and make better use of their land.

The program also highlights the importance of supporting local agriculture. With the right resources and support, farmers can grow more food and create better income opportunities for their families.

A Community Effort in Barangay Alangilan

The event gathered Negros Power representatives, local government leaders, employees, and members of the farmers’ association.

Negros Power Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Engr. Joe Mel Zaporteza attended the activity, together with Barangay Alangilan Captain Roy Retiza and Barangay Granada Captain Armando Vito.

Negros Power employees also joined the event, showing that the program is about more than donations. It is also about building stronger connections between the company and the communities it serves.

The farmers’ association was led by its president, Renato Parohinog, who represented the local farming community benefiting from the program.

Bringing community leaders and farmers together at the event shows that sustainable development works best when everyone works toward a shared goal.

Why Supporting Sustainable Agriculture Matters

Agriculture still plays a key role in communities across Negros Occidental. Farmers supply food, create jobs, and help keep local economies strong.

However, farming has its challenges. Farmers need access to seeds, equipment, land, and other resources to keep their farms running. Support programs like Roots of Hope can help meet some of these needs.

Giving farmers vegetable seeds and seedlings can also encourage them to grow a wider variety of crops. This can give families more food options and create more products to sell in local communities.

Adding crates and a canopy provides farmers with practical support. These items make it easier to handle harvested crops and carry out daily farming tasks, making the donations more useful in everyday work.

More importantly, the program shows that community development is about more than just building infrastructure. It is also about giving people the resources they need to become more productive and resilient.

Negros Power’s Commitment to the Communities It Serves

The Roots of Hope initiative is part of Negros Power’s second anniversary celebration, with the theme “Growing with the communities we serve.”

The theme matches the goals of the farmers’ livelihood program. Just as crops need care and resources to grow, communities need support, opportunities, and partnerships to thrive.

With programs like Roots of Hope, Negros Power shows that corporate community efforts can go beyond just providing electricity. Supporting local livelihood programs helps build stronger relationships with communities and supports wider social and economic growth.

The program also highlights the value of sustainable efforts that focus on long-term benefits. Instead of offering short-term help, livelihood support gives communities resources they can keep using and building on over time.

Growing More Than Crops

The name Roots of Hope carries a special meaning. While the program provides seeds and seedlings for farmers, it also aims to create bigger opportunities for the future.

Each seed represents potential. With proper care, it can become a productive crop. In the same way, every livelihood opportunity can lead to income, confidence, and greater stability for families and communities.

This approach makes the program especially meaningful as Negros Power celebrates its second year. The company is marking both its own growth and its connection with the people and communities it serves.

For the farmers of the Alangilan Granada Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Farmers Association, Inc., these donations can help them continue improving their farming activities.

A More Resilient Future for Local Communities

Communities become stronger when people have steady livelihood opportunities. Supporting farmers is one way to help communities meet their needs and face future challenges.

The Roots of Hope program brings together several important elements: local farming, livelihood development, community partnership, and sustainability.

These efforts can start a positive cycle. Farmers get resources to support their work. More production can lead to new opportunities. Stronger livelihoods help families and communities become more resilient.

For Bacolod City and nearby areas, programs that support sustainable agriculture help remind everyone of the important role local farmers play in daily life.

Negros Power Celebrates by Giving Back

Negros Power’s second anniversary is more than just marking another year in business. Through Roots of Hope, the company is using the occasion to give real support to a local farming community.

Donating seeds, seedlings, crates, and a canopy provides practical help and also sends a strong message about empowering the community.

As Negros Power continues its journey, programs like this show the value of growing with the communities it serves. By supporting local farmers and encouraging sustainable livelihoods, the company is helping create opportunities that can extend beyond the anniversary celebration.

The Roots of Hope: Farmers’ Livelihood Support Program ultimately reminds us that community development starts with people. When farmers receive support, resources, and encouragement, they gain more opportunities to grow. And when local communities grow stronger, the entire community benefits.
