Nobu Hotel Manila – City of Dreams

Nobu Hotel Manila is the first Nobu Hotel in Asia and popularized by Robert de Niro. It is a 5-star hotel that is part of the integrated resort and casino of the City of Dreams Manila. It is located along Aseana Boulevard corner Macapagal Avenue in Parañaque City. It offers amazing panoramic views of the city, pools and the stunning sunset of Manila Bay.

Recently, I got to stay at this Japanese boutique hotel for two nights for the annual Blogapalooza event,  together  with my fellow #NegrenseBloggers, here I tell my experience there.

Nobu Hotel Interior Design:

At first look, Nobu Hotel Manila has an impressive architecture and ambiance. The exterior follows the  complex’s golden theme, making it an epic spot for sunset viewing because of the sun’s reflection to the building.

It has contemporary Japanese interiors as observed in their thick clean lines, murals, and abundant use of wood accents. The light-toned woods perfectly blended with the hotel’s lighting and ornaments. Japanese-themed paintings are hung on the walls.

Real orchids are almost everywhere in the hotel which effectively adds to the hotel’s nature vibe. I wish it could have been ‘sakura’ or cherry blossoms but that only grows in Japan and only during spring time. Nevertheless cherry blossom designs are found in plates, wall paneling and more.

Understanding the Japanese concept of design, my previous impression of the small lobby is now made clear. Japanese is well known to follow space constrictions and Hotel Nobu had done so, effectively and elegantly.

Nobu Hotel Manila Deluxe Room:

We stayed in the Nobu Deluxe room which has enough space to move around. The wall against the beds features an eye-catching calligraphy art in a sand-colored backdrop. I love the origami-inspired carpeting too.

We have 2 king-sized beds and a sofa that can be used as an extra bed when necessary. There is a writing desk which reminds me of my blogging duties. But I find it ergonomically inconvenient because the chair is too low when I’m in front of my laptop. At least, the Wi-Fi connection never disappointed me. The room is equipped with an iPhone docking station too.

There is also a 47” LED cable TV (with video on demand) that displayed welcome greetings with my name on it. The bedside telephone has the same warm greetings too. There is also a complimentary fruit basket.

One of the drawers reveals a mini-bar, a personal fridge and a tea/coffee-making set. It was filled with drinks and snacks which are quite expensive. But there are free stuffs too like Nescafe coffee, Ikaati Premium Tea and bottled water.

Inside the closet are bathrobes, cute indoor slippers (which I took home), ironing set, a sewing kit and an electronic safe that’s perfect to keep my laptop.

I love the sleek bathroom – white walls, black tiles. The wood motif is also very present here: wooden planks on the glass partition of the shower room, wooden ladder towel holder, tables and chair and even the complimentary toothbrush. They also provide digital scale, hair dryer and mildly scented toiletries courtesy of Natura Bisse.

Dining at Nobu Restaurant:

As most Japanese restaurants do, a chorus of ‘Irasshaimase!’ welcomed us upon entering the famed Nobu Restaurant. The wood plus yellow lighting combination makes it a cozy place to eat. They have a sushi bar and another bar for drinks. There is also an outside seating for a romantic garden ambiance.

Checked-in guests are guaranteed to an exclusive and free breakfast from 6:00 to 10:30AM during Mondays to Saturdays and until 10:00AM on Sundays. Nobu Breakfast includes a buffet of Japanese-inspired delicacies such as soba pancakes, okonomiyaki or Japanese pizza, green tea waffle and so much more.

Nobu Restaurant – Breakfast Foods

Nobu Restaurant is open for everyone for dinner from 6PM daily. Prices start from Php200 up to Php3,000 per dish. They also have two multi-course Omakase menu options that costs around Php4,500 and Php6,200. Their waiters are also well-trained to answer my questions about the menu.

Other dining options are 24-hour room service, Nobu Lounge at the lobby that has Asian-inspired refreshments, the Wave Restaurant at the Promenade which is ideal for sunset viewing.

There are more restaurants within the City of Dreams Manila area as well.

The Amenities:

The pool deck is interconnected to the three other hotels of City of Dreams. The pool is small which makes it easily crowded. But it deserves the crowd it gets because it is beautifully landscaped and even more fascinating when the lights are on at night.

Although the gym is not open for 24 hours, it is equipped with hip fitness devices. I like that they provide sports wear free of charge – tops, shorts and sneakers for men and women in different sizes (except socks due to hygienic reasons).

Nobu Hotel Manila is also pretty accessible to the casino, Pangaea and Chaos clubs, Dreamwork’s DreamPlay for kids and shopping areas.

Overall, my staycation in this hotel is honestly pricey but worth it. I got a sense of the neo-Japanese atmosphere plus great service.
