Visit the new Orange Karenderia in Bacolod City
A mere mention of the word “carinderia” brings to mind that family-run eatery in your neighborhood that serves delicious home-style food at affordable prices. These canteens usually cater to customers from all walks of life, such as students, teachers, travelers, office employees, street vendors, and everyone else. It is unintimidating, accessible to the masses, and very budget-friendly.
This is the kind of vibe Orange Karenderia is aiming for – but with a little twist.
Instead of being located in the sidewalk, the food shop is found in a nice building. In place of wooden chairs, they use modern furniture and lighting. There’s also a Nune Alvarado painting hanging on the wall plus the menu on the counter is printed on the blackboard.
Still, general manager Michael Pato loves the idea of using the name in his casual restaurant to instill a friendly approach to the public. He added the word “orange” for the simple reason that it was his father’s favorite color.
Originally a psychology major from De La Salle University (DLSU), Michael decide to pursue his passion for food by going abroad and enrolling at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) to take up restaurant management.
He then returned to the country, armed with new knowledge and skills, to start a business in Cebu. Thus Orange Karenderia officially born.
