Inside Negros Power’s Two-Day Rehabilitation Project: A Major Upgrade for Central Negros

Bacolod City just witnessed a major power upgrade! Negros Power recently pulled off a massive two-day rehabilitation project aimed at strengthening the power grid and ensuring a more reliable electricity supply for everyone in Central Negros.

This initiative, which was carried out on February 22 and 23, focused on key areas connected to the Burgos Feeder 3 and the 69kV Bacolod-Silay Subtransmission Line. The goal? Enhancing the power infrastructure makes it more resilient against typhoons and other harsh weather conditions.

Powering Up for the Future

No one likes unexpected power outages, and Negros Power is taking steps to minimize them. This rehabilitation project ensures homes, businesses, and industries won’t have to deal with frustrating blackouts.

Over the weekend, our dedicated teams worked tirelessly despite harsh weather conditions and challenging terrain. The project involved replacing 18 old poles and installing 235 new pin insulators along the route from Barangay Granada to Barangay Alangilan. Tree wires were added along the same stretch to strengthen the system further, improving the network’s stability.

The 69kV Bacolod-Silay Subtransmission Line also received much-needed upgrades, with seven deteriorating poles and three insulators replaced. These targeted improvements are all part of a bigger five-year Rehabilitation and Modernization Program.

Why This Upgrade Matters

Negros Power isn’t just fixing things when they break—they’re thinking ahead. By prioritizing preemptive upgrades, they reduce the risk of widespread outages, especially when typhoons hit.

“We are addressing high-risk areas first so that when a typhoon comes, we won’t have problems,” said Engr. Mervin Dalian, Assistant Vice President of the Network Development and Operations Group. “We have successfully replaced old poles and insulators, making the system stronger and more reliable.”

This forward-thinking approach ensures that residents and businesses don’t have to deal with unexpected power failures when storms occur. Instead, they can have peace of mind knowing their electricity supply is stable.

A Commitment to Reliable Power

This latest project is just one step in Negros Power’s ongoing efforts to improve electricity services. Their dedication to upgrading and modernizing the grid means fewer outages, better service, and a more substantial infrastructure overall.

For the people of Central Negros, this means uninterrupted power, whether they’re working, studying, or running businesses. Negros Power’s commitment to modernization is paving the way for a more reliable and efficient power system, and that’s something everyone can appreciate.
