Negros Power Lowers Electricity Rates This March – Here’s What It Means for You
Great news for electricity consumers in Negros! If high utility bills have been weighing you down, here’s something to brighten your month, Negros Power Lowers Electricity Rates for March 2025! This means more affordable power, helping to ease financial burdens and put more savings in the hands of households and businesses.
How Much Are You Saving?
This month, the average residential electricity rate has been reduced to Php 11.4766 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), which is Php 0.6711 lower than last month’s rate. While that might not seem like a massive amount at first glance, when you add up the savings over a month—or even a year—it makes a real difference to your budget.

What’s Behind the Price Drop?
Several key factors contributed to this welcome decrease in electricity rates:
1. Lower Generation Costs
- Geothermal Discounts: Green Core Geothermal Inc. (GCGI) has introduced a Temporary Baseload Discount of Php 0.15 per kWh for the entire year of 2025. This helps lower the overall cost of electricity production.
- Emergency Power Rate Reduction: The Palm Concepcion Power Corp. (PCPC) Emergency Power Supply Agreement (EPSA) rate dropped slightly from Php 6.1635 per kWh to Php 6.1368 per kWh.
- Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) Savings: Prices in the WESM have also decreased, leading to a major cut of Php 0.5142 per kWh in electricity rates.
2. Decreased Transmission Charges
Electricity isn’t just about how it’s generated; it must also be transported to your home or business. This month, transmission charges have dropped due to lower ancillary service costs, resulting in Php 273.8091 per kW savings.
One Small Increase: The FIT-ALL Rate Adjustment
Not everything is decreasing, though. The Feed-In Tariff Allowance (FIT-ALL) rate, which is a government-mandated charge to support renewable energy, has been adjusted from Php 0.0838 to Php 0.1189 per kWh, reflecting an increase of Php 0.0351 per kWh. This adjustment follows the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) resolution dated February 19, 2025.
What This Means for You
A lower electricity rate means extra money in your pocket. Every peso counts whether you use it for groceries, savings, or small home improvements. Businesses also benefit from the reduced costs, leading to lower operating expenses and better consumer prices.
Negros Power is happy to pass these savings on to customers. A company representative shared, “We are committed to providing reliable and affordable electricity. This rate reduction is part of our ongoing efforts to improve our services and offer the best value to our consumers.”
Looking Ahead
Negros Power continues to focus on transparency and service reliability. As the energy market shifts, they aim to inform consumers about price changes and how they affect their electricity bills.
For now, let’s celebrate the savings and make the most of your lower electricity costs this March! This is a great opportunity to allocate these savings to things that matter to you.
