Negros Power and Oplan Halalan 2025: How They’re Making Sure Lights Stay On for Democracy

When it comes to elections, one thing we all hope for—besides clean and honest voting—is that nothing disrupts the process. Imagine power interruptions during vote counting or while poll machines are running. That’s a nightmare no one wants to deal with. Thankfully, Negros Power is on top of it. With their full-blown initiative called Oplan Halalan 2025, they’re making sure the entire election process goes off without a hitch, at least regarding electricity.

Let’s break it down and see what Negros Power 2025 election readiness really means for everyone involved in the upcoming national and local elections on May 12, 2025.

What Is Oplan Halalan 2025?

Oplan Halalan 2025 is not just a fancy name. It’s a detailed contingency plan designed to keep the power running smoothly before, during, and even after election day. Negros Power covers key areas in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, Talisay, Silay, Bago, Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto. That’s a whole lot of voters counting on them, and they’re not taking the job lightly.

Their preparation includes 159 schools, polling precincts, 7 canvassing centers, and 1 COMELEC tech hub. All of these facilities need uninterrupted power—and that’s precisely what Negros Power aims to deliver.

Prepping the Grid: The Calm Before the Vote

Weeks before the elections, the company rolled up its sleeves and got to work on the grid. Here’s what they’ve been doing:

  • Rehabilitated the Bacolod-Silay 69kV Line to make sure this key link in the transmission chain doesn’t cause any problems.
  • Energized a new transformer in Alijis, adding 18 MVA of power capacity, which is huge for local distribution.
  • Inspected substations and transformers, ensuring everything runs efficiently and no hotspots lurking.
  • Activated satellite warehouses so that materials and tools are ready in case something needs fixing fast.
  • Prepared backup generators—three of them—so even if something goes wrong, they’re ready to bounce back.

To avoid overloading, they’re also keeping a close eye on transformer and feeder loads, keeping them below 70 percent. That’s a smart move, especially with election day expected to be high demand.

On Election Day: All Hands on Deck

On May 12, when voters head to the polls, Negros Power’s Command Center will be live and fully operational. This isn’t just a room full of screens. It’s a real-time control hub working closely with the Department of Energy (DOE) and COMELEC to coordinate everything.

  • 37 field crews are deployed across their service areas, ready to respond to any issues.
  • In case things get hectic, 20 roving teams are also on standby for added muscle.
  • Operations run in two shifts, starting as early as 5 AM and going until the last ballot is counted.

They’ve even scheduled a simulation dry run on May 10. This mock election operation helps the teams practice protocols and test their real-time reporting app, which feeds directly into their central dashboard. Pretty cool.

After the Votes Are In: Still Standing By

Even when the votes are already in and the tension starts to ease, Negros Power doesn’t pack up just yet.

  • Standby teams will remain on alert for a few more days if post-election facilities need assistance.
  • They’ll also participate in clean-up drives, removing campaign posters and other election materials from power poles and public areas. Talk about going the extra mile.

Why It Matters

According to Engr. Bernard Bailey Del Castillo, Chief Operations Officer of Negros Power, this entire strategy is all about making sure communities can trust the system. The team has gone out of its way to not only prep the physical grid but also tackle any internal wiring issues within schools, upgrade drop wires, and even mobilize community relations teams to help out on the ground.

So if you’re voting in any of the areas served by Negros Power, you can breathe a little easier. You’re part of a community where the lights will stay on while democracy does its thing.

The 2025 elections are a big deal, and Negros Power knows that. With their meticulous planning, real-time command operations, and strong coordination with national agencies, they’re showing what election readiness should really look like.

So whether you’re a voter, a volunteer, or an election worker, you can trust that Negros Power has your back. They’re not just delivering electricity. They’re powering democracy.
